Art and healing are inseparable. They are both practices of endless recalibration and discovery in the face of challenge. A couple examples of this intersection in my work:

(1) Training myself to see value in disregarded forms helps me to view the uglier sides of the world (and myself) with more acceptance and confidence and less disgust and fear. Due to this alchemic process, I enjoy finding beauty in themes of disintegration, spills, distortion, or failures. (2) Working with my hands to investigate materials and how they are manipulated is a meditative practice that continually teaches me mindfulness and appreciation by bringing my focus back to the present moment. Open minded play is a fundamental method of empirical learning.
